my mother and i love to girl talk.
we chit chat about anything and everything and it's usually in the kitchen while cooking up a storm. growing up i would see the women in the family gathered around in the kitchen cooking, cleaning and talking while the men sat in the living/family room watching some sort of sports on tv laughing while sucking back a beer. so growing up, the idea of women gathered around the kitchen table chit chatting really bothered me. i vowed never to become one of these women but as i started to spend more time with my mother, aunts and friends ... the more i realized this was our time to be surrounded by fellow wives, mothers, sisters, daugthers and fellowship in such an intimate way. now i crave these moments.
i now spend so much time in the kitchen it has become my little domain. everything is where i desire it to be and cooking has become a passion instead of a job. because i spend so much time in kitchens i have a lot of opinions on what my dream kitchen should and will eventually be. here are a few great kitchen images from flickr i wanted to share with you all.
i'm not big into minimalist designs but this contemporary kitchen really caught my attention with the fantastic textured back splash and sleek contrasting white to chocolate brown cabinets.

or in the opposite direction, this great cottage style kitchen with wooden counter tops and the pot hang ... every kitchen needs a sit in island and a pot hang!

and my favorite, this modern sleek wooden kitchen with stainless steel appliances and off white subway tiled back splash that runs straight up the wall to the ceiling. it brings your eyes right up making the space vertically endless.

The last one is also my favorite. The kitchen feels warm with the darker wood and sleek modern appliances. The wider Shaker-style inspired door frames mixed with clean drawer fronts update an older look with the new. I feel this is a kitchen design that will not lose its appeal with time.
Great kitchens, the last one is the best!!
i also love the last one!
i especially like that last one too. great use of finishes and efficiency in design.
Thank you so much for the mention, I just saw this! I love clean lines, even in all styles of kitchens. Simple is often elegant too!
